A once innocent, carefree, happy child can go from a confused, scared, angry child. Later in life you can spend so much time having painful memories haunt you. So often you go back and visit painful events but how often do we go back and visit the wonderful, happy, exciting times in our childhood? While I suffered at the hands of two evil men in my childhood there was still so much happiness, adventure, and fun in my childhood. The place in my childhood that brought the greatest happiness happened in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I recently spoke in December in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin at a conference and one of the questions I was asked after speaking was if it was hard to come back to Lake Geneva because it was the first place I was abused by my cousin. I told the person that I don’t allow that one event to take away the years of joy and happiness coming to Lake Geneva has brought me since I was a one-year-old when my parents bought their cottage and eventually a year round home. There are far more joyful times then that one awful painful night. I describe in my books the horror I endured as a child. Each person to read my books might have their imaginations take them someplace else. I don’t need words to describe the happiest place in my life.
