If I were the President…..
18 years ago my kindergarten teacher sent my classmates and I home with an assignment. We had to write a story that began with, “If I were the President….” The teacher went on to put all the responses together and mail it to then President Bush senior. The responses are priceless. Some will make you laugh, others will make you think what passionate responses for young kids, others will tug at your heart, show true innocence of children, and my response well it for sure says who I was at 6 years old. I could care less about war, poor people, the Earth, or anything else at that matter. Funny to think what you care about at 6 years old and how my response would be today at 25. Here they go:
If I were the president of the United Sates I would help all the poor people by giving them food and make peace in the world. I would make sure all boys and girls get a good education. Also, so everyone would be safe and sound in their homes. – Lauren
If I were President of the United States I would say that everyone would have to give some candy. I would build homes for people who do not have homes, give people food who do not have food. I would make a bank that can give people money who do not have money. -Jacob
I would let the black people and white people get along. I would buy clothes for the poor people and buy food. Help make our country safe. – Kevin S.
If I was President of the United States I would tell everyone about the war, tell people what was right and wrong. Help people take care of the plant earth, pick up the garbage you see, take care of your kids and treat people nice. – Timmy

If I was the President I would run the country and I would want to travel around the world. I would feel sorry for the soldiers, but I would be happy they are fighting off the bad guys. I would give some of the starving people some food. -John
If I were President of the United States I would take all the candy and gulp it in my mouth and jump on all the beds in the White House. And have a zillion dogs and a zillion cats and have them chase me all over the house. -Erin
If I were President I would:
1. Get a nice car 2. Get a nice house 3. Help the poor 4. Stop the war 5. Feed the hungry 6. Stop littering-Kristy
If I were President I would gather up all the people in the world. I would make a picture of the President. I would want everyone to know and love Jesus. There would be a big church so everyone could fit into it. And we wouldn’t have a war. – Julia
If I were President I would have a beautiful Limo. I would like to stop the war and no one would ever be fighting again. I would give people who have no food lots of food. All the dogs and cats would not be barking or meowing. All the deers would not be shot. I would send flowers to old people. The zoos would have lots of animals. Everyone in the world would have houses. The people who have nothing to drink would have drinks from the President. None of the animals would run away again. I would make sure that anyone who needs money would have enough- Rachel
If I were the President of the United States of America I would never let the war happen again and I would also make sure everyone had jobs. -Mike
If I were President I would ask everyone in the world to stop fighting and save the people of my country from the war. I would not let anyone get hurt from the scud missles. I want to help all the poor people by giving them money and a house. I would have all the bad guys caught and put in prison and I also would like to give toys to all the kids. If I was the President I would have to a big house and I would eat anything I wanted, and I would go ice skating and I would make posters. I would give poor people anything they wanted and I would do anything they wanted and I would do anything to make people happy. I would think of people who are in the war. If I were the President of the United States I will make peace on Earth. And take care of the poor people, and find homes for the homeless. And make the people do what I say. And the best thing I would do is don’t let the parents get divorced so they will both stay with the kids. And teach them all the right things. Because they are the future of the country. – Johanna
